WMU Monthly News from Betsy Ross

Unshakable Pursuit – “My dear friends, stand firm and don’t be shaken.  Always keep busy working for the Lord.  You know that everything you do for him is worthwhile”  (1 Cor. 15:58 CEV)

Have you ever been asked to explain what WMU is?  Or, more accurately, what WMU does?

This month and next month, I want to share with you some insights that will help you give answers if you should be ask the question “What in the World does WMU do?

WMU makes disciples of Jesus who live on mission!   This month, we will consider WHY?  Listed below are five reasons.

1. WMU is biblically rooted.   Scripture guides us in knowing God, His ways, His character, His mission, His redemptive acts and His purpose for the church.

2.  WMU is missions focused.  Jesus commissioned His disciples to proclaim the Good News, disciple people of all nations and teach them to live out the truths He taught.

3.  WMU is church based.   Jesus gave the church authority to act on His behalf.  Teaching all ages prepares the church to fulfill His mission.

4.  WMU is world aware.   God is always at work among all people, and we join Him where we discern He is calling us.

5.  WMU is denominationally supportive.  No one church can do alone what many churches can do together.  Our voluntary cooperation extends the missions reach of a local church.

Next month, we will consider HOW WMU makes disciples of Jesus who live on mission.
